The Manotaço Gaucho Traditions Center, located in the city ‘s central Mato Queimado district, opened on March 15, 1954, the same year as the city’s political emancipation. Founded by traditionalist Lúcio Peregrino Petersen, the organization is part of Gramado’s history and receives countless visitors from the community and the region to its annual rodeo, with trophies awarded to winners of the different events, artistic performances and dances. CTG Manotaço preserves and disseminates the roots of gaucho traditions. It also participates in initiatives aimed at transmitting gaucho culture to children and teenagers in the community.
