The railway reached Gramado in the 1920s, three decades before political emancipation (1954), and boosted tourism. By Federal Government decree, a large portion of the railway was deactivated in the 1960s. In the early 1970s the physical facilities were returned to the municipality. In 2008, a bold project not only reconstructed the building, but conserved its unique features and collection. The TRAIN STATION CULTURAL CENTER is a novel way of revisiting the city’s past. Its video room allows the student community to review the most decisive moments in the city’s tourist investments.
